Oh enough is enough no more from me now
Changing subject a little a great friend has recently made me a birch bark hip flask and it's great will be bringing it down to the meet to show off and of course it will be holding the very last remnants of absinthe which I know Adam has declined but I know Al said he wanted a try, and Al I have spoken to Longstrider and strop and smurf poo arrived would you do me a favour and give me a helping hand on knife sharpening, would be most appreciated

What do you reckon the chances are of me managing to make fire by friction by the end of the next meet, and getting the kit together? They are longing to see it at work, and I have the chance at a new job that it would be really useful for (together with anything bushcraft/outdoor environment learning orientated) - more on that when we all next meet - the dream job for me if it comes off.

Sure can do buddy. Never a problem or chore!

I'll be doing a bit of sharpening here and there so I'll take a look-see at that axe Lucy. I will be packing a file with the kit, so I would need to see how far gone it is..!

Collected plenty of hazel spindles yesterday, have several hearths drying on the side and a load of Jute/dry tinder. Its all going in a drybag when ready so its just a case of when. I can do one on one with the bowdrill, but it would be limited to just a few this time, due to cooking, sharpening, recovering ect!

Just play it by ear and see what happens on the weekend.

I have visions of me falling out of a hammock at the next meet and everyone splitting their sides laughing (but that is okay).

you won't be the first person i've seen fall out of a hammock, and probably not the last
There's no such thing as bad weather, just a bad choice of clothing.

Crikey this thread lost its topic for a spell , with you lot getting carried away with the double entendre , thing about axes etc , still normal service seems to have resumed , thank goodness.
perhaps its a good idea of dave53s to list any supplies you are bringing , so as we dont end up with a lorry load of sausages and nothing to go with them ! so somebody more tech than me start a list , its not compulsory, so if you want to cater for yourself and just join in with the 2 planned group meals or not thats fine . Remember the local coop is only a short drive away .
Adam i want 24 hour surveillance video recording of Lucys exploits re hammocking , and keep it under your hat .

It's next to impossible to fall out, the hammock curls around you and keeps you safe! As far as I know atm Lucy, I'll be arriving on the Friday so I'll bring spare tarp, hammock, underquilt etc.

I'll set up both the IR cameras, the motion sensor, audio recorder, beam barrier and the two monitors. have IR floodlights, so should be able to see the action, even in total darkness,

Nice one Skate... I'll bring the marinade/vinaigrette and some lettuce/wraps again to go with it

Also, I'll grab the stuff for a pot of soup daytime. Almost wish I was there now.

Off for some hammock time on the weekend, I need to swing!

Hi what a fantastic day ! hey tbl i have ringed up the beech and some other stuff for the chop off ! be warned there is an art to splitting wood ! before anybody starts throwing down the gauntlet ! I am sure you are a fine scholar in the fine art , you certainly have the build , and the warhammer looks the kiddie ! Adam has got it weighed off now , I can still do a bit as well , so maybe a small wager amongst the clan ? And the result is warmth and somewhere for you to do one of the other things you do well cook , not sure i fancy a cook off .

Lifes a learning curve buddy... I was hoping we could all do a little axe session at some stage over the meet. safety/carving/splitting ect

I shall be bringing the 'warhammer' along with the scandi, a husky hatchet and a very cute wetterlings mini-hatchet. Although, I'm secretly looking foward to a craick with the warhammer!

    Its a real monster.

Grab a bottle or two of plonk if you like

A glass (or mug rather) of vino would go with with the evening meal.... A bag of marshmallows and you would be our hero!
