Default Halloween Meet - With a difference!

    Hi All.

This year I'm looking at arranging the annual Halloween Meet at Bowley Scout Camp, in the Ribble Valley.

This is for a couple of reasons:

    • Drew has arranged his bithday bash at Middlewood, and I thought you guys might like a change of venue.
    • Bowley offers us the chance to do "Big Boys Toys"...so I'm looking to make this a challenging / adventure training weekend.

Activities could include (number dependant as each comes at a cost!)

    Archery (1 hour / £25 per 10 people)
Pamper pole / Leap of faith (1 hour / £30 per 10 people)
    Jacobs ladder (2 hours / £60 per 10 people)
Low ropes course (2 hours / £60 per 10 people?

Basic camping would come in at the usual £5 per person per night, with a donation to Help for Heroes built in.

So, just a show of hands at this stage please....who would be interested?

I could be up for that Simon.

Not much room for hammocks and might be a bit windy if we're in the same spot as last time though.

    That sounds like fun.
Any water there or just woods?
We would have three or four tents (say 6 people)
    Cheers Simon.

    Hi Simon,

Could well be up for this plus 1 or 3.

My daughter might be with me and she's well into archery plus my neighbour and his lad............

I gather it's more tent camping that hammocks?

    Cheers

Not just for scouts is it?? Good to get back into that area. Used to live on edge of Ribble Valley in the past so would be good to join in.

What does happen on these meets? I only managed one and got there late afternoon so only enjoyed the night's entertainment round the fire. I am sure it is not all gabbing around a fire with some beverage in your hand?? Not that there is anything wrong with that, really enjoyed the banter myself.

Anyway if you do sort it out with prices and dates, etc. then I think I might try to make it. Last weekend in October I think I can make. Would be good to meet some local-ish people from this site.

    Some trees but not many.

Hammocking is not the best option.

    Think field with hedgerows.
