ok i know it is not that bigger deal but i have just lit my first fire without matches or a lighter.
i used some thistle seeds (i think) as tinder and a firesteel. one shower of sparks and flame.
as u can tell i am very new to this

Well done ,as soon as things dry out here in wetest Kent im off out to collect enough thistle heads, birch bark ,cramp balls etc to last me all winter.
Ive never seen a good intention that a man could eat.

Great feeling isn't it, i can remember the first time i did with Celmatis bark - i was elated, as Martin said "it will stay with you forever"
