So Dorset ambulance trust has a stand?

I would have thought New Forest Show was Hampshire Ambulance patch?

    THREAD REVIVAL!!!

Ok it seems I keep buying more bushcraft kit but still haven’t been out to play with it yet so I was wandering if people would still be interested in a Hampshire Meet at the Airsoft site which I tried to organise earlier in the year?

If so I need an idea of numbers and preferred months to hold it. Once I know what sort of month’s suit I can approach the owner to find out which dates are available.

Didnt one of you find a good campsite in Dorset from memory?

Just thinking if i cant get at least 10 people like last time we could choose a different venue?

yes Burnbake campsite in the purbecks, woodland camping, open fires allowed, cheap too. may be worth a quick search to see if there are any woodland campsites in Hampshire? google may bring up some ideas on sites that allow fires and have woodland. if I get time later I will have a search.

I've had a look at some New Forest camp sites from all bells and whistles to basic with no facilities but doubt you could dig a camp karzi so that may be a no go. Anyone else got an idea of a good camp site we could go to?

Must admit the Burnbake place looks good:

    Hi Grendel

I haven't tried this place myself; it regularly advertises in The Bushcraft Magazine, and looks interesting at least. The place is called The Plantation in East Meon, Hampshire. The ad says:

Attention Bushcrafters: 2.5 acre site to yourself or group (maximum 10); light a campfire; beautiful countryside; abundant wildlife; option to tent Tentipi with woodburning stove; logs supplied; peace & seclusion; no light pollution

    Pre-book only tel 01730 261570 or 07801 760534. £40 per night for the site; £60 with Tentipi & stove

As I say I haven't been & have no connection with the site, but it sounds like what you're looking for.

I am not too sure if anything happened with this? But I have just found this place (Inwood camping) that allows open fires and has some woods so it might be possible to throw a hammock up.

Yes still interested in organsing somthing just last time i couldnt pin enough people down to commit so it has sort of been left at the wayside.

Been to this campsite for a bike rally.

OK it's an open field and has very nice facilitys but you are allowed camp fires and they can sell you the wood or you bring your own. Depends if we want a proper woodland bushcraft thing of a social camping thing to get to know each other?

I'd be up for something, maybe April? That site in Basingstoke sounds good or I've seen this in the Bushcraft magazine. http://www.dernwoodfarm.co.uk/index.php/home no association etc. Will keep an eye on this to come along. Nice one

I think they are trying to organise a Hampshire meet, It would be a tad pointless to hold it in Sussex
Dont thank me, its what I do.

I think they would be delighted for some instruction Wayne, at this rate I think we may have to sort it for them

The Basingstoke site has nothing booked and mentions April is possible, it is quite expensive at £10 pp pn but you will possibly get exclusive use for the weekend.
East meon is 40quid per night for the site so if 8 people are in that reduces the price by half.
If Wayne goes (free tuition from Forest Knights!) do we have 6+ others to commit to a definate date?
We have the 16th or 23rd weekends as possibles.

I'm more than happy for somone else to organise. The original venue i was going to use would cost £100 a day but you would have a couple acres of woods and a portaloo but no water on site. i think if we go to a establised venue it would be better.

Basingtoke site has some good reviews:

    http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/re...sp?revid=11006

Unfortunitly cant find a website for the camp. Only one is this:

Oh wow, I never knew there was a campsite, or even a wild-campsite, so close to my home! At £10 a night it's a little steep but for that wild camping experience that is not illegal it's certainly something to look into!

I think I'll also rear my head and proclaim I am also interested in meets near Basingstoke.

    Cheers

I have sent an email to Inwood camping asking if we could get a group discount or hire a section of wood for the meet up so I will let you know what they say.

Otherwise the East Meon site looks good value at £40 for the site and thanks Wayne for the offer of popping across to give us some instruction

March or April? the 16th and 23rd are Fridays in march but Monday's in april!
I'm ok for April if it's later on in the month, I'm already in the woods in Cornwall the first weekend, swmbo will not be pleased if I go away the following weekend!

A bunch of people going out to play in Hampshire? I am a possible dates dependant, I'm working the week following the 9th March. Could be cool later though.

as long as its a weekend then I'm in (providing I give SWMBO enough notice!)
Basingstoke would be good (not just because it's round the corner from me, honest)

I had a look at google maps, and I'm only a few miles from where they reckon this site is. If you want I can go an have a gander before hand. To make sure it's not waterlogged or anything. There are a few wooded area's round my way, but with the vicinity of AWE & MOD ground it's probably best not to go off-piste

Some old farmer boy bought a bambi into the farm shop. He'd clipped it in his 4x4, and it hobbled away. The old bloke somehow chased it down on foot and finished it off. Good work as he was pushing 70!
