Hey folks,..

i had a day in the shed today and knocked out a few bits,...

its gonna be a long heat treat session tonight,....

my fave is this ,....i call it a precision whittling scalpel"

its just an off cut i couldnt bear to throw in the scrap,...

had to pack in,...used my last grinding disc, and the belt sander is glowing!!

i got a few grinds to finish before i fire up the forge,...

half of these are made from bits i would normally have wanged in the bin,....

but theres a reccession on dont yer know,...

they are mate,...

the top one is 5mm,..the middle one 3mm,..and the baby is 4mm...

i have yet to grind the other side of the big one,...it took me most of the morning to do one side,..hahahaha

yeah i drew this out rough ages ago and Southey took one to handle himself ,..

i think its the round spine which sets it up,....

it is the definitive "raikey necker" i think,..hahah

haha like the name "raiky necker"

seen similar skinning kneck knifes but with plastic handles and sheaths
yours with wood handle and leather sheath would be the bees knees

not measured it mate,...its over 18 inches,..and weighs a tonne!!!! deffo a chopper,..but sadly,....

its a commission,..and its called a Seax, its a general duty blade of old english origin,..

i think this particular shape is called a "broken back seax" ,...(i await the corrections flooding in!)

yep on the scalpel,..cant wait to give it a try on some woodspirits,....

some are just going out as blades, (thank god) others in kit form,....

i have two keepers in there though too......so i can finish those two at my leisure,....

I hope for your sake you're prepared for all that acreage in the biggest Saex when you start polishing it. There's as much work in a large Saex as a 3 foot sword when the polishing starts.

Been there.

Done that...

How do you plan on finishing it out ?

hey Dave,...

i think they are gonna be used,....the guy they,re for does spend a fair amount of time in the woods.,...

i just spent the last 2 hours on the big one ....5mm is one thick piece of metal i can tell thee!!!
