Off for a night in the woods tomorrow night - 1st solo camp

I shall be departing for my little shack in the woods tomorrow night for my 1st solo night out to date. I won't be sleeping inside I'll rig my hammock and tarp up next to the fireplace outside and make camp there.

I am probably going to regret going out solo but we shall see!

Have fun mate, never been out for a solo overnight myself. Think I like the company of others around the fire otherwise I'd be in bed by 6

I'll have my leaf spring bushcrafter and a gransfors axe with me, so no doubt by sundown I'll be chopping at anything that makes a sound... not that I'm paranoid. At least being solo allows me to watch the wildlife properly. I know the area like the back of my hand so I think I'll be staking out the nearest sett and game trails to try to get some decent photos in

I'm out solo (apart from dog) tonight too Richard. Just preparing to set off now and its p***ing down! Relax and enjoy the experience. I'm sure you won't regret it.

Seriously though, have fun and enjoy the experience. I tried it for the first time myself last year and loved it, hadn't even been out before, except in tents at biker ralies. Anyway the plan is to try for a 2 nighter later in the year.

My friend told me his sister's best friends cousins X boyfriend's dad said there are ghosts in the woods and they eat your soul. Be carefull. Always carry some garlic and holy water, better be safe than sorry!

I haven't done a solo night for more than 6 or 7 years, must do it again, it gives you the some of the best memories and sense of contentment you can ever wish for.
