I'm looking for a lightweight smock

Looking for some suggestions.
I'd like a lightweight (summer) smock. I'm thinking of something that's little more just one layer of fabric - preferably in cotton ripstop (but can be swayed).
I don't really want it in camo, just good old plain olive green.
Or maybe I should just stick with a plain BDU cotton shirt/jacket. Hmm...Any smock suggestions? And links, if possible.

I have used the Bison Ventile jacket as a shirt/smock before, it is certainly windproof but I'm not sure I'd want to do any serious work while wearing it. Pricey too.

Ive had one for a couple of years and its fairly tough, windproof, dries in minutes and packs away tiny. I wear mine for about half the year and next to the skin when its humid.
IMO beats a standard cotton smock hands down. Montane, Buffalo and Paramo also do a version if you want to spend a bit more money.

If it's lots of pockets you want I can recommend the Begadi smock, I find it very useful and light enough for summer wear.

got one of these for xmas, i like it

de-velcro'ed the name patch on the left chest and unpicked the rank tab to de-militarise a bit more. bunged some nikwax cottonproof to up the water resistance (worked well today in a downpour, but only in town, it will wet out if really exposed)

does have "camo loops" on the back, but doesn't really detract, might get round to unpicking them at some point, if can be bothered, at £53 it seems sturdy, well made, cheaper than other similar ones of decent quality (ie not a fleabay sas smock copy)

has a inner lining, but very lightweight. lots of pockets too for all those essentials

Hi,
I have a Sasskit smock in their unbranded windproof(very very water-resistant) cotton. Double layers over shoulders. Colour is Dark Olive. Bought 1½ months ago and used a couple of weeks to/from work. size is 190/98cm, but as with all smocks it's oversized. Size is really good on my 190cm 85 kg frame. Looks new, not signs of wear and tear. Removed by Moderator
