    Default Lamp recommendations please.

I used to have one of those ONE MILLION CANDLE POWER jobs that you could buy at petrol stations for nothing – it was surprisingly good for making impromptu Bat Signals or scaring cats in the garden, but alas it’s now dead.

It’s not something I know anything about and I wondered if anyone here could recommend a half descent replacement. I’ve Googled but all I’ve come up with is this...

I don’t know how it stacks up to whatever competition there is out there.

    Thanks for reading

£80 seems alot for something to scare bats with, why not make your own using an old motor bike battery and a spot light from the scrapyard?

You don't need to carry a large battery around any more. Something like this is approximately 6" long and is like having the sun in your pocket. Torches, particularly LED ones, have come a long way recently.

It runs on a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which you will have to buy, plus a charger. I can point you in the right direction for these if you're interested. There are many very bright torches out there, if you particularly want a lamp and to carry a larger battery I'm sure I can find you something, but as I say, there's no need any more.

I've got one of those million candle power sealed lead acid jobs in my car, I have the mains charger but I am damned if I can find the cigarette lighter charger which drops the voltage from 12 to six volts, and it is annoying me.

Like everything else you need to charge them from time to time to keep the battery in good order, I am sure you can replace the batteries, I know maplins have a selection of sealed batteries. One of them ought to fit.
