Thread: Mini Meets in the area

Question Mini Meets in the area

Just wondering if there are any members who put together mini meets in the Northern Area and if any members would be interested in getting a northern group going?

I would be interested in this as always wanting to learn new skills if you can put up with a fairly newbie. Any ideas where the meets would be?

i`m not sure but as a weekend for informal chatting and socialising around a fire maybe the Goathland camp site already mentioned in another thread might be a good starter site then build from there with ideas being put forward

What about Lancashire? Or Cumbria? Not sure about North East, isn't that bandit country?

I'm in Blackrod, between Bolton and Wigan.
I think this is a great Idea.
In terms of locations, and being locally biased I can think of two places which could be suitable, and where the land owner can easily be found. The first is Haigh Hall, not sure how much they would like a bunch of people camping on the grounds but you never know, the second and probably more feasible is Rivington/West Pennine moors. The Anderton Centre is UUs outdoor activity centre and they should be able to sort out somewhere to use as UU are the overall land owners for much of the area, I've seen groups all over the place that have been overnighting from the centre, mostly scouts and such, I think they would be more susceptible to the idea than Haigh and even if they don'y own the land, they will know who does as they own the water rights to the entire area.

    Just a thought.

I would be interested in any meets that are "northern" I'm west yorkshire but the Lancs (spit!) border is but 20 mins from me and I regularly visit the northern yorks coast and cumbria. I'd love to see some of the more experienced hands in action!

    Cheers,

    Marc
