    Default Excellent Timex UK Service

After reading several watch debates on here, and needing a new watch, I went for a Timex Expedition Combo watch.

However, after 4 months the indiglo light didn't work over the analogue face, only over the digital section. As the watch was a birthday present I didn't have any receipts for it but contacted Timex anyway to see what they could do. They accept email despatch notes of proof of purchase and since we had the one off Amazon my watch was repaired under warranty. It took 7 days from posting the watch off to recieving it back in full working order.

I haven't had an explanation as to what was done other than 'it needed resetting inside". But on the whole, given my lack of paperwork for it I am happy with the service I have recieved off them.

Timex Electronics Corporation announced ending its operations in Dundee just before Christmas 1993, stating that the shift that ended at 6pm that day would be the last.

The final closure came six months after the factory's workers went on strike and were locked out in February 1993, after the management attempted to enforce a wage reduction, renege on previously agreed benefits and conditions and began a programme of lay-offs. Proposed compulsory redundancies would have reduced the number of employees to 70 in a factory which had previously employed 5,000.

During the dispute which followed, Timex took on a new workforce and bussed workers through picket lines, resulting in the worst picket line violence amid allegations of Police brutality since the Miner's Strike of 1984.

The closure caught union officials, the government and the press by complete surprise and it was later discovered that the factory's equipment had previously been sold to businesses throughout Europe, leaving little doubt that the whole episode had been choreographed.

Sadly that statement is true for me also although I would phrase it more politely myself. I got through three Timex Expedition watches before I learned my lesson and bought a G-Shock.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught, will we realise that we cannot eat money

Looked at G-shock but decided on this instead.

    Got it here.
