    Default Coming to Scotland

    Hi folks
    I wonder if anyone can help me.....proffessionals have given up already
    I am coming up to South East Scotland for a visit, sometime in May or September (depending on work)..and the non Bushcrafty Wife is coming too.
    I am looking for inexpensive, self catering "interesting" (ie old barn conversion) accomodation in the Berwick-upon-Tweed to North Berwick area that is handy for walks with a bushy feel (ie foraging, wildlife, beachcombing), prehistoric sites, good museums, good but shortish walks.
    Any info would be good or even links to useful sites on the web.
    The other year the Devon/Cornwall members helped out enormously and their help made my break truely memorable - lets see the Scots can match their efforts!
    My Mothers side of the family was from this area - but all contact has been lost over the decades...the family name is Turnbull and for generations were associated with the KOSBies...so it will be good to explore the area.

    Hiya John,

    This is a bit lower down but we have just had a wonderful week in a village called Alnham. The Cottage was called Blacksmiths cottage. Lots of lovely walks Moorland for nice days forests for wet windy days. Plus the coast is in driving distance with Craster, Dunstanburgh and Alnwick etc.

    It would be a bit of a drive to Berwick though.

    A good site for cottages for that area is northumbrian country cottages if you want to google it. (sorry I am carp at links) And have used a company called unique cottages which do some stunning locations.

    If you want any other advice as Rich says Andybyseas a local to that area. Or if you still have my number give me a bell we have been holidaying up round that area for years.

    there's a few others but not to sure of the sites, what i do know and if your in the Coldingham area (approx 11 miles north of Berwick)is lots of walks both long and short hard and easy some nice little un used bays to sit and chill on,some fishing locations,woodland walks etc etc, Shewie must be getting old its nowhere near a sheer cliff face and even Miyagi(only our mother's can tell us apart!) in his wellies has been up and down there!!! if you are around here or want me to find/look for anything specific only to happy to help.

    Default unique cottages

    Try this john, we are just back from the borders last week. Excellent time, we go away to these 2-3 times a year. You also need to go to Hawick for the KOSB,s and borderers history.

    might fit with the kinda thing your after,just north of Coldingham,there are also iron age forts up on the cliffs(well the imprints of them) fast castle etc.

    My plans changed slightly (the wife decided she wanted B&B) but the info given has got me booked in to a place in Coldingham for the 10th to the 12th of July, before we go on to stay with friends up towards North Berwick.
    We are near the pub so if anyonefancies a mee up one of those evenings....

    Had a great time!
    Visitted the Broch, walked the cliffs - ate well and drank too much, saw Puffins, seal and Gannets - lots of Gannets
