Is it just the £8 for the camp site or do we need to pay subs too?
are ye talking aboot the march meet at brockwell?
if so yes 8squid and no subs.

Afternoon all, from near Darlington and planning to go hammocking with a couple of enthusiastic mates. Any recommendations of places on North Yorks moors, East Pennines in my locality. I already have a few places in mind but any extra ideas would be very welcome.

Can't really help with locations as most of my excursions seem to lead me north of Newcastle. I've hammocked at Kielder before now. Little too cold for the hammock atm, at least for me.

Cheers anyway Chris. Had a trip out on Friday night by the River Leven. Weather was fantastic so did away with the tarp so I could see all the stars and sat by a small fire listening to the foxes barking all night, amazing.

    Hello North East.
I've not been here in a long while since registering so just tipping my wonky head again, as would like to start getting out and about bushcrafting and munching berries and squirrels with others. If there are any people in Durham/Chester-Le-St areas and roundabout this neck of the woods I'd like to know too. I'm in the village of Esh Winning by the way.

I've only ever been there by myself , which is great, but it would be nice to head out with a few like minded individuals.

hi there bushcraftgeordie , i'm a sandancer too :-), just recently joined, do you manage to get out there very often ?

Hi Andy. Yep there's some good forestry and wooded areas all around, and right on my doorstep an ancient wooded area with the foundation of an 11th century manor and stables and moat once also apparently the place passed by romans at some point earlier, probably en-route to lanchester and beyond. I don't really go out around here much as I used to, but tried setting up a bushcraft group here several years ago and no one seemed interested. There's a range of tree types from silver birch, chestnut, willow, oak and in the main forest mostly conifer and I'm not sure if its Scots Pine. The areas tend to be very muddy and have seen damage on the tracks running through, from the odd quad/trail biker though not regularly used as far as i know. There are a few almost hidden gem areas mind you and maybe good for a few small gatherings away from the areas that teenagers drop their cans!!
The forestry is under national trust woodlands management i believe, someone like that can't exactly remember name as been sometime since was out walking and biking around. But anyone intersted in having a look out for a recce give me a shout and I'll pm my mobile number.
