I've been looking for ages,I can only find powdered egg white. If you do find some let us know.
The only person I have known to use it in camp is SimonM it may be worth asking him where he got it?

Im meant to do what! ... with what !!
I get mine from Tesco's. It is in the bakery section.
Top tips:
- Work out how much water you need to make scrambled egg at home, before you need it!
- I carry it in a zip lock bag, and then add the water to the bag, give it a good mix up and finally boil it in the bag.
- It is VERY bland, so add plenty of pepper to liven it up!

Thanks Simon,I'm off to Tesco's this evening.
Tesco's got it but failing that Holland and Barratt do a egg substitute powder, ideal for bannocks.![]()
tescos it is!!!
thanks
There's a totally vegan, gluten free version available too.........heaven knows what it's made from but it works fine in baking. I don't think I'd consider it for scrambling or the like though.
Tesco's and Asda both had it. 200g for £2.95 iirc.
cheers,
Toddy

Anyone watch Heston Bloominsilly in the Little Chef meets Big Chef?
He was advocating boil in the bag scrambled egg.
That was made from real free range eggs though, not powdered stuff. Although, I'm sure the last time I was in hospital the scrambled egg was made from the powdered stuff. Wasn't too bad actually. Saying that, I hadn't eaten for two days so anything would probably have tasted good lol

"Holland and Barratt do a egg substitute" £2.99 equals 10 eggs
I have hunted high and low in Gravesend and dartford and thats all I have found.
Wonder if it would be easier to make a "safe" carrier for 6 eggs. Eggs dont need to be keep in a fridge so would keep for a short trip????
Thanks Rik
just might be they thing at that price (inc P&P)
I like the idea of powdered egg but will not eat battery farmed eggs (if I can really help it)
I guess the powdered eggs are not free range?
Dave
Ps not preaching just not for me.
hi all like the idea of powdered eggs but i hearded that you can make them yourself anyone know how

Caterers use pasteurised liquid egg. It comes in a 'milk' carton and could be decanted into something more transportable. I'm not sure where Joe Public could get it from but I guess you could ask at a local bakers or some such establishment??![]()
Nope, my Trust gives patients hard boiled eggs or 'solid' fried eggs (so cooked to death), but I dread to think where the scrambled eggs comes from, I would imagine is comes in liquid form,as it comes down in the meal wagon in a sort of slab![]()
They do use vac packed ready peeled spuds as its safer to use them than clean a spud peeling machine, H&S issues etc,![]()
I'm going to the cash and carry later today, I'll have a look and see what I can find. Whether it be liquid in a carton or a decent powdered version. As long as it's free range I'll give it a bash. I'll let you know what I find.![]()

Hi Folks
looking for a source of powdered egg in the UK, no local supermarkets have the Supercook stuff and compared to the US price for such things the stuff on eBay UK is extortionate!
Thanks!
Tom
How about custard powder . Isnt this dried egg? Has anyone tried this in bushcraft ?
Crowe
Don't make the mistake of mixing custard powder into your bread mix and making dampers etc with it... yuck. bread tastes of powered custard.. very very powdery and dry.. that was a mistake. No idea if you could make a custard mix first, then blend it into your dough, though.
"Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves?"
Custard powder is mostly cornflour; it generally doesn't contain any egg.

I've just heard back from a chap on ebay in the UK who sells 900 gram (2lb) packs of whole egg powder for £3.99 a pop + postage for making fishing bait and the stuff is fit for human consumption (he had forgot to put it in the add') so when I herself wakes up from her nap I will get here to order me some before she properly comes to...

PS have pre mixed the dry ingrediants for a baking session tonight, just hoping the rain holds off!
I have done it before in the oven. I lightly beat the fresh egg and poured it into a large none stick swiss roll tin and then left it over night on a very low light with the door slightly open, much like making egg jerkyI goes very, very hard and brittle. Next it got the good news from a mortar and pestle. It worked OK but I have not done it since and it just some much easier to pop the tesco or asda
