hi dunne here my wife and i are looking to go to the gathering this year but cant seem to find out when or were any info would be great thanks
Here is a link to the Wild-Live Calender. Check out the first weekend in April.http://www.wild-live.org/booking/calendar.asp
You may have to email them to register.
Hope this helps
Should be a good weekend again! Only less rain this time
I'll be there.
Couldnt make it last time - but will be there this time
Loz
I wonder if it will still be £15.00 for the weekend. I know that this isn't a large amount, but I see that Wild-live only charge £2.50 a night at other times, yet that goes uo to £15.00 for the gathering. Seems a bit "strange", dosen't it?

umm I agree 15 is abit much considering its national trust land and if booked through them they normally only charge around 2.50 per night
Strange?? Is it because there is instruction going on?
"I won't have a Spydi"
No, there are people sharing knowledge on an informal basis, but it was made very clear that there was going to be no instruction from the host.
Organised groups end up with extra insurance and public liability cover sometimes.
The landowners may well insist that the organiser completes risk assessment and health and safety requirements as well.
It's a p.i.t.a. but they have to cover their backsides too.
Sounds like a good event though![]()
cheers,
Toddy

Muddy is a state of happiness
It is strange though that it costs £2.50 for a group one day but £15.00 on another. Maybe it is a printing error and as it is a group it should read £5.00 instead of £15.00? Especially as there is no teaching happening.
"I won't have a Spydi"
I still think it's worth it just to meet all the guys (and gals) there the last time
I think its great to see that someone has taken the trouble to offer their site for a gathering. I was at the last gathering and had a excellent time and met some great people .
I am looking forward to going to the next gathering. If people have a problem with the cost should they not take it up with the organisers directly. I personally think that its a great site in a great location. All to often people have tried to organise meets in Ireland and they have failed. This event should be encouraged.
( I have no connection with Wild-Live. I have done one of Anthonio's courses and attened the last meet.)

I wish I Had A Good Quote From Somebody Else, But More Than That I Wish I had A Good Quote From Myself.
Are there any photos floating around from the last one?
I was there, with a small girl who sat on a very very large bow drill...
I had a few photos too... Now where are they....
There's a picture of that bowdrill here http://www.irishbushcraftclub.org/events. I know that there are more pictures floating around but I can't remember where I saw them.
Look in the post "Who's going to Antonios" in the Ireland section,Just go back oner click and it's 4th or fifth post down. quite a few pictures there.
Hello all,
I am very sorry some of you felt that the £15,- charge was unfair.
All the money collected was donated directly to the National Trust in lieu of the normal entry charges.
I also had certain overheads which I paid for myself such as event insurance, firewood, and organising time. I also lease the land we use from the National Trust.
The wild-camping cost on our site for £2.50 per night has always been a symbolic charge but perhaps it too should reflect actual costs. The symbolic charge allowed me to have you staying on our site while covered under our insurance as the camper is "attending" a "course". Perhaps this is an unfair arrangement when taken in context of other events such as this past gathering... Food for thought...
If anyone would like to find out more about the charge for the gathering, then please feel free to contact me directly:

PS, The gathering was good fun though and I very much enjoyed your company.

It's a Bernie Garland blade, but I put the handle on myself.
I have seen it first hand redneck and it is a work of art, Gary has done an excellent job im sure you will agree when you see it, one tip however and i must stress this, dont stand to close as Gary has a habit of dropping knives unexpectedly and if your foot happens to be to close...well you see where im going with this!! LOL![]()
"I won't have a Spydi"
Ohhh yes, I have droped the occasional knife. Of course being from Ballymena, I never seem to drop and fivers though.
What about that blade of yours CB1. How's it coming along? Have you ground the bevels yet?
