Yes, I've heard of it, a friend of mine did it a very long time ago. Isn't it something to do with walking for miles over various stages or something, in the middle of nowhere. I can remember always liking the sound of it, but I remember very little about it.
What exactly do you have to do?
its a 2 day walk across dartmoor in may, in which about 400 teams of 6 take part, with routs of 35, 45, or 55 miles, it runs from 7 o'clock on a saturday morning untill 5 pm on unday afternoon.
have a look at some of the photos on the official site

Yep I did the 55 mile route many moons ago (1997!). I was in my final year at school at the time and it was a good excuse to get out into the hills! Very hard work ...... a lot of sweat, blisters and falling into quaking bogs (only during the training though) ..... but worth it in the end.
I can't remember which 10 Tors we went up. Great Mis Tor and Kitty Tor were on the list I think. And now for the bragging bit ........ we came first in our group and second overall!!!
It was particularly windy the night before we set off and all the portaloos in the camp ground fell over ...... sometimes with people in them! One or two blue, toxic smelling people wandering around. :-)
Exclent to meet another competetor.. i did 45 in 2003, we compleated in 27 hours so was pretty pleased with that!!! what time did you get in!
they wouldnt let me do 55 cos i had never dont 35![]()

We used to enter at least 2 teams a year. One team that did the 45 mile and the other that did the 55 mile (only open to those that had done the other route before) ..... although I think the school only do the 35/45 mile combo now.
Training was pretty harsh (I fell asleep standing up on more than one occasion!) so that when you actually came to do the real thing we flew round the course without realising! I can't remember how long we took to do it ..... fairly rapid though (got in just after 1pm on Sunday? I think .... it was a long time ago).
We were told that the team that beat us were from a school based on the edge of Dartmoor  so they got a lot more practise than us (thats my excuse anyway!!!) ...... and we may have been geographically challenged (no not lost! ....... a completely different thing  ) on a couple of occasions.
It was great fun. Got to see some wildlife ..... lizards, adders, deer etc and some not so wild-life ...... sheep (.... lots of sheep) and woke up one morning to find our tent besieged by Dartmoor ponies after the muesli! Learnt quite a few valuable lessons the hard way too!
Highly recomend it to all.
that might well have been my school, we are some 300 meters from the national park boundry, i used to walk up western beacon on my lunchtimes..
we have the langest training schedual of any team in it (sepetember - may every other weekend) and as a result of that we have a pretty good record..
clame to fame.. i have actually had trench foot, and it was on tentors, luckly only the earlie stages, my feet smelled like rotton
