Unusual knife ID...

Got given this... Looks African to me..?
Anyone got any info on it or seen one before....?
The sharp edge is on the convexed side. The handle is some black wood I think. The sheath is wooden with a leather wrapping..
I think its ornamental because the handle is not good to hold...
The bottom of the sheath is missing and there may be something missing off the top of the handle.. It looks very old..

I would have said Far Eastern
the handle reminds me of Thai or Malay styles - though I'm more than happy to be put right about it.

Reminds me of a Morroccan knife....so Africa may not be far out....
