Sleeping mat

im looking for a new sleeping mat..

what do you guys recommend ive been looking a the thermarests and they seem pretty good
my max is about £50

any ideas??

also it must be lightweight ie: >1kilo

This is the dutch mat and it's probably the best closed cell mat plus it fits neatly in the slots of the dutch army goretex bivvy bag

I think Therm-a-rests are great, I use a 3/4 length as it packs down a lot smaller than the full length (obviously) but its plenty enough for summer. In winter I use the 3/4 Therm-a-rest with a cut down normal roll mat underneath. Ive used this combination snow-holing and on winter camps and it works well.
Just watch out for stoves with inflatable mats they have a very low melting point!

I bought the Vango version to see if I liked the thermo rest type mats.
Its not as light as the top brand, but is still light and packs small, for the price £20 it’s very good.

lightweight - less than 1 kilo?!? that's still pretty heavy!

if you want lightweight then foam mat is your only real option (100g to 400g)

inflating mat if you want something more comfy but heavier, usually around 700g for a full length one

I'll second that, I used to use a therma rest a lot, but in cold conditions you need to use a decent insulator on top like a roll mat, it kind of defeats the purpose doesn't it?

I do fancy those down mats, they look like the biz!
