Bushcraft knife my version :)

Thought I would post these here as well on bb , I would love some feedback from you guys on the design , this knife started out as a commission from a bb member ideas were bounced back and forth for a couple of weeks and this is the result, thanks for looking and your comments are most welcome good or bad

I would like to hear your reason for the forward lanyard hole, that is something I have been thinking about for a couple years. And I like the brass butt plate.

I was wondering about that lanyard hole too. I suppose you could also stand up the knife (not sure why you would want to though) on its base as it seems rather flat . I think I prefer (in terms of colour) the second one best, but then I don't get along too well with flat grinds in buscraft myself. Another thing, athough I love the whole fit and finish of the knife, just as a question, why have you made the top spine of the knife curve back up again at the butt? Does that make it feel odd at all?

Also, Sorry to be a pain, but what woods, steel etc have you used for the 1st knife - I love finding out what people on here use for their materials.

It looks like the best bits from a F1 combined with the best bits from a bearclaw and a bit of extra, executed to a very high standard of workmanship.

The wood in the top knife is called Palo Stanto its very nice stuff hard and a bit oily same family as lignum Viti I came across a block of it by accident browsing in a wood suppliers and its turned out very popular.

The hollow pins I use quite often in my work , sometimes i fill them with resin for a nice look , but on working knives I like to leave them, possible uses - the one nearer the blade can be used to secure the knife into a sheath with use of a peg.
top hole used for a standard lanyard , both holes together can have cord threaded through pulled against the hand and secured using the thumb during heavy use.

The grind is one of my own ( I think ) its a flat grind starting at the ricasso going into a convex grind right near the tip for more strength both knifes have this feature , the lower knife just has a higher grind.

The flared pommel was mainly a request by the guy who commissioned the first one , I wasn't to sure about it myself , but it is very comfortable to use and follows the shape of the hand. The brass pommel was required to use for crushing seeds nuts or knocking in pegs , the original had a Titanium pommel

The steel in both knives is 01 tool steel,,, no file work or fancy bits on these . I just built a light box to get better pictures still working it out so there might be some weird reflections or shadows which might give this impression .
