Power of Words – Tej Kohli

I knew it could be done. I wanted to try but I didn't know if I
could do it. I called my friend. He said he knew how to do it and would
teach me. He put his arms around me and started. I watched
nervously in the mirror. He finally finished and pulled back slowly. I felt relieved that it was over.

    I hate neckties.

Seriously James, my sons have both worked sys admin and both have a lot of experience getting in an out of all the awkward spaces that severs and the like are fitted. Ties are *not recommended* next to moving fans and the like......Jamie's comment now is that if they insist on him wearing a tie, they can't afford to employ him
    Worth a try

LOL Toddy Im' already there with that one been doing that for years but I'm going to be a teacher in September so I'll have to take a different tack if all the kids are wearing ties and i have to make them if I'm not wearing one i could get backed into a corner but we'll see what the regs are on workshops in schools and ties, maybe everyone will be allowed to take there tie off in my classrooms (boy will i be popular if that happens) we wouldn't want little johnny getting pulled into a drill press or lathe by his tie now would we

we'll see what comes out in the wash

Is it just me, or is the original post just spam and an excuse to post the link?

I tried to get into it last night when it first came up but it had used up it's time. Forgot this morning. Sorry

    Cheers,
    Toddy

p.s. James that's a pretty fair idea; our local school insist all ties are off and hair tied back for tech.

I wouldn't even bring this up so early on in your career, it's pathetic how many of the old timers get worked up by it, even in workshops. I wear a tie - but they are foul, tucked in two buttons down and my top button is undone.
Ties are hated in this house, but I have to be seen to be doing the right thing - more so than actually doing it I feel. Ties in the workshop are stupid, but if the head wants them, there's not a lot you can do. Even though they impede speech and blood flow to the brain.

Look at ties from a positive point of view.

a: They're warm around your neck in winter.
a': ties allow you to button up your top shirt button without looking silly.
b: you can convey interesting messages through them without speaking. (Did you know the vasectomy tie?)
c: you attract the interest of women at the bar: "can I have a closer look? Are these pinguins?"
d: you can be delightfully poltically incorrect. Sometimes only specialists can recognize the symbols on a tie.
e: why don't you design a Bushcraft UK tie? autumn coloured with the little leaves, it will be lovely during a walk in the woods...

got to be a double windsor.

Hate the things unless I'm wearing a full suit - then it is just like dressing up as a kid.
