basically fish is not free as you have to have a rod licence and permit in uk,unless you are fishing in coastal/tidal waters. exception that i know of is the thames where the water upriver of the barrier is still tidal but the powers to be say that a rod licence is required because when the barrier is raised it ceases to be tidal. and technically any game you need the land owners permission to hunt/trap ( legally ) i assume that you mean legal methods..imho
