    Default Name that shelter!

I reado Pablos (excellent) blog at http://www.woodlife.co.uk and I spotted this tipi style tent:

Does anyone know what make it is? It looks like a great alternative to a normal tent.

    Don't know

But before you rush off and buy one, if you haven't tried it and have a tarp, there are ways to get something similar.

    There's a great video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZzJHuWlEAtk

The shelter referenced in the first post looks a lot like a Kifaru Super Tarp
    http://www.kifaru.net/supertarp.htm
Or perhaps a Kifaru Para Tarp, linked to from the above page. But I don't think that is what is - so I think you'll have to email Pablo and ask.

I might comment on the cavnvas tarp tent from nwwoodsman as shown in the youtube video. I just ordered one of these last week. Eric is the guy there who responded to my inquiries for additonal inforamtion. I ordered the tan fire retardant version which was out of stock but I was told they would rig the lines on it and send it out to me today 2 March.

Information sent to me before I ordered stated that it weights about 8 pounds, ( vs the Super Tarp at 1 pound.) I like tradition materials and perfer to use them when I can. You know wool, canvas , etc. I may not want to carry the nwwoodsman tarp-tent up and down mountains on a multiday hike. But if a short hike or car, or canoe camping I think I'll like it . A google search on "nwwoodsman tarp" turns up this page which is no longer linked to from their current webpage. It shows a nice drawing of where they placed tie-outs and reinforced areas.

I think that it may be the Golite Hex Shangri-La 3, though the tipi in your photo looks taller.

    EDIT: I was wrong!

I think it's made by Titanium Goat.

According to the site, it's a Titanium Goat Vertex 5 tipi
