Good Morning,

Just found the site and thought I'd join.

Original Westerner and grew up in the Rockies above 6000 feet. Life long hunter and lived/hunted in Germany almost 23 years. Only got to England a couple of times (via parachute) while in the military.

Most of my outdoor time now is spent with my 10 year old son teaching him fieldcraft. A lot of my kit is old military gear I carried for years and am confortable with. Perhaps not the latest high tech but solid and reliable. Right at the moment I'm looking for a new axe with a polymer/synthetic handle that I can keep in my Jeep. I have a GB Hunters axe that I really like but the handle dries out in the heat here and then the head is loose. I don't remember to put the head in boiled linseed oil periodically so it will just be easier to find one with a synthetic handle.

Anyway, I'm here to pick-up some other ideas or techniques that I can pass to him enjoy the exchange of outdoor experiences.
Little bit about me.

Love the outdoors whether it's sport, running/cycling, camping and/or bushcraft. Probably the reason why I chose my profession.

I currently train recruits ready for the big bad Army so I get plenty of opportunities of being outdoors. I also help out with my brother in-laws bushcraft company which is down in Plymouth - hence the split home location.

Looking forward to taking in all this forum has to give and hopefully I can pass things on too.

Cheers,

Andy.
