New Arrival from Drink-Safe

Rating: 4 votes, 4.50 average.
I contacted Giles from Drink-Safe a few weeks back regarding some of the excellent water purifiers that they produce, Giles is very help guy and we spent considerable time talking about the pros and cons of the different products that they deal with. Eventually he offered to send me some items to test, these are the Waterstraw, the Explorer Canteen 1.0 Litre, the Aquaguard Eliminator inline filter and the Drinksafe Waterbag Supalite green. Full details on all of these are available from http://www.drinksafe-systems.co.uk/products.php . If you would like to see some of these the products before they go for testing they'll be at the beginning of the moot, feel free to come and have a look. The Water straw and Waterbag will not be available here as they'll be on route, the Waterbag is being taken by Sargey for testing in Canada and the Waterstraw will be on it's way to Indonesia, full reviews to follow.

I just invested in the Explorer canteen (awaiting delivery).

Now's the time to get one as there's 20% off their usual prices!

I've been playing around with various items from Drink-Safe and the canteen has been the most useful so far. I'll finish the review in the next week or so and post it up.

    Cool.
Selecting a brand/model is a bit of a minefield for the uninitiated, but this product appears to be well respected and a good price.
Can't wait to try it out.

Will look forward to your review too.

My canteen arrived yeaterday. Seems very good, just need to find some rough water to try out the filtering. Thought I would start with a local peat bog and feed the water to the wife. No sense in taking any chances eh?

i finally took the plunge and ordered the explorer canteen early in january, along with some other gear. the explorer was the first thing to arrive. cannot fault the service, especially with 20% discount. i took it out with my new osprey canteen and mug, with crusader cup and cooker set. with the idea being id keep the osprey full for brewing and cooking, while drinking as i went from the explorer. i set off for a walk around the roaches on the edge of the peak district near leek. had a lovely suprise in that the higher ground had a smattering of snow. and an even lovlier suprise that i was prepared for it. off i set walking. pretty impressed with how much better even tap water tasted in it. i stopped at the bottom of roach end by the stream for a brew a smoke and some dinner. after 2 coffees, 2 smokes and a hotpot a bloke at the tackle shop asked me to try,(name eludes me, but ill find it again as it was delicious. i washed out my cups refilled both bottles. firstly filling the osprey from the explorer then the explorer for drinking. i have to say it was a bit of a leap of faith me drinking water unboiled from a stream. but i did and was impressed. lovely tasting ,refreshingly cool and im didnt feel sick or die. i do alot of long distance walking and this has reduced my 3-4 day pack weight down by 4-5kg, love it. i even take it the gym cuz because its better. and weve only got basic old stand pipes in our old boxing club.great buy for me

I used my Explorer canteen to take water from a River in Brecon and as said, water tasted pure without any hint of anything.
I couldn't tell you how good the water was to start with, but It gives me confidence that If there was a sheeps carcass a mile or two upstream, I am now better protected against it than I was before my canteen arrived!

    Happy Days!
