Here are some of the knives I’ve got from Ben Orford over this year.

I first contact Ben by email on the 12th of April about getting a Whittler full tang 3” blade 4.25” handle in 3mm steel stock and about what wood he had for the handle available.

Ben got in contact the next morning.

I made the choice to go with Elm an under used wood I think, also made the decision to have a dark brown sheath and add a Laplander saw sheath to the order in same colour.

Got the knife and saw sheath from Ben on the 10th of May and what a great knife it’s is. Nice leather work for the knife sheath and saw sheath to.

I liked the work Ben had done for me earlier this year so I thought I’d send him another email for a Sloyd knife and two crook knives, one small the other medium.

Sent the email on the 19th of November and again received a reply the next morning saying that delivery time about just after Christmas but maybe before.
Received another email from Ben on the 24th saying he had just made a batch of the stuff I was looking for. Another email from Ben on the 28th saying that my order was finished and he would try and post it that day.

Got a knock on the door the next day and there was my postie asking for my signature for a special delivery packet.

My feelings about these two orders from Ben and dealing with him.

Quality of work: Outstanding
Deliver time: Outstanding
Communication: Great kept it touch with me about all the details and answered all my questions very fast.
Would I order from him again? Dam yes probably after the New Year.

Iain

Great looking knives.

What have you used to wrap the blades of your crook knives

Cheers

Oh no!
Why did you have to post that Angus Og?
Just as I'm getting my finances sorted out, you just HAVE to post those pictures. My mrs is going to want your head on a platter.

I have one of his spoon knifes and it is first class. He very helpfully sends a plaster with the instructions as a reminder how sharp they are. Far better than the frosts versions and definately worth the extra money.

Does he have a website?

What sort of cost are we talking for such lovely work?

I have a Woodlander on order from Ben, should be with me early in the new year.

I've gone for a Yew handle on mine, as being a keen archer I thought it was quite appropriate.

Good to see your pictures Iain, they all look like beautifully made items.

I too can vouch for Bens friendly approach and quick response. I had loads of questions which he answered.....even though he must get asked them over and over and over etc. Responded to my order real quick too with an e-mail to confirm everything. Even told me to hold onto the money for a bit till he contacts me again with a firmer finish date. Top bloke. :)
