Plans to plant oak trees shelved, in favour of birch and rowan, in an attempt to preserve the red squirrel population.

The article doesn't mention any grey squirrel culling programme... Do they taste like rabbits?

Never tried one myself but have been told they taste - wait for it - like chicken!

In HFW's River cottage cookbook, he claims that a friend of his sells them in his New Forest restaurant as 'flightless partridge'. :lol:
