My dad was doing a cleanup on the computer, and he deleted some stuff. Now I can't click on things like the post options (bold, italic, smilies etc) and I can't open my email on hotmail. I think that this is to do with javascript. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

Cheers.

hmmm, does sound strange mate.
i'd check that the security settings haven't been set to high and not allowing javascript.

in a bit of a rush right now, but will try and help.

have a fiddle in (assuming you're using Internet Explorer this is):
Tools
internet options
security
either set this down to "medium low"
or try and customise it to allow javascript again.

good luck mate
Carlo

You may have lost your "Java Virtual Machine" You can download it here

www.java.com/en/

Please, I need some help guys.

After downloading the Java VM everything was OK, but the next day it wasn't (again I'm seeing little red crosses instead of pictures).

The PC keeps telling me I need to download Java VM when entering a Java website :?:

I've checked my Symantec firewall settings, internet options, software, updates, Java FAQ.....but I can't seem to solve the problem....

Thanks in advance for any reply.

Awra best,
Frank

If you click on Tools then Internet Options ... and then click on the Advanced tab that appears check that everything under Java (Sun) and Microsoft VM is checked.

While you have that dialog box open, hit the Security tab and check to see if security is set to medium.

aaaaaahhhh Norton  :oT: causes more problems than its worth, you're definatley sure that someone hasn't restored the PC back to a previous date?

Thanks for your quick replies mates!

Java Sun is checked, but Microsoft VM is not in the list :?:

Security is set at normal (medium)

I'm sure the PC isn't restored.

I'm beginning to believe that the problem is indeed Norton, maybe
remove the Java software and install again?

Because of lagal wranglings with Sum, Microsoft don't make their own java virtual machine available ... but you can still get it ...

http://java-virtual-machine.net/download.html

Might help ... I tend to find it more stable on XP than the SUN engine.

The problem remains.....

O well, best to forget about it and stick with the good old bushcraft.
Much easier

I have a similar problem.
Mine is the firewall. I also can't bid on ebay either with it on, I have to disable it first!

I still have this problem. We've had loads of sh*t from Norton recently. That seems to be the problem. I can access the shop on raymears.com anymore.
