Clearly Mods are and should be able to delete our posts as they see fit, but are we as members able to delete our posts rather than edit them, or do they become the property of BCUK once they are posted?

We've had a few problems in the past with people deleting loads of posts, these take threads way out of context. There’s been occasions where members have stirred up other members, got stuck in on subjects that are right on the line and then deleted all their posts and there was no proof that they had anything to do with the problems that they caused. Doing things this way is a compromise, you guys get to edit if you want to but not delete, this generally leads to a more continues thread. If people want something deleted completely they can ask a mod.
No matter how tight things are on BCUK and how nice the majority of people are on here there are those that take advantage to promote themselves in very underhand ways and attack others if an opportunity arises....not good ;) and we do what we can to prevent this.

Cheers for that Tony :)
Sounds reasonable in the extreme.
