Okay this is the result of Jack's posting here

http://www.britishblades.com/forums...74&page=1&pp=15 (http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12974&page=1&pp=15)

I have managed to contact a retailer however they really want numbers before they can confirm a discount structure. As these should retail for £5 that is my ceiling. If I cannot get the price to a level where I can get them to your door for less than that, including PayPal fees I will not go ahead.

So if you are interested post here. So far there are 13 on BB and that was before the thread started. And for more info about what I am actually talking about see below. Should be handy for anything from a water bottle to a sheath or small axe.

Civilian Labs Ghost Ring

A unique and minimal means of carrying small to medium sized drinks bottles - when not in use, fits easily and comfortably in your pocket!

It's usually the simplest things that are the most ingenious - just roll the Ghost Ring's O-ring over the neck of either a common garden type water bottle or SIGG type bottle (as long as there is a flange or lip on the bottle), clip it to your belt loop or bag strap and away you go!

Perfect for clipping on a climbing harness or day pack, it also fits many hand tools such as hammers or wrenches for driving climbing pitons at the weekend or nails whilst at work or in the home.

Features:

Snap hook for multiple wear options
Specifications:

Materials
phenolic resin, spring steel and nylon webbing
Dimensions
20cm L x 4cm W x 1cm D / 7.7 x 1.6 x 0.4"

I would think so but will know better later in the week. There are almost 30 reserved so far over on BB so if I can sort out a price then I should enough to place an order quite soon.

We may also be able to pick colours but if I can only have one colour I would go for Black. If I can choose colours then it is a case of what you have asked for.

PRICING NEWS

I now have the price for the Ghost Rings. The price delivered to YOUR door is £4. The only thing that does not include is PayPal fees. If you are payiing me by cheque the cost will be £4 if you are paying me by PayPal it will be £4 + £0.20 + 3.6% = £4.36

Now what I am looking for are the names of those who now definately want to go ahead. Post here and send me a PM for details about payment.. It may still be a week or two before you actually get the Ghost Ring as I have to get all the money in and then get the order off.

Oh and you CAN pick the colour you want. Choices are Black, White, Red Yellow and Green. If you do not specify or if they are out of stock the choice is Black :D

So in the confirmed list we have

I am accepting payments up till and including the post on Saturday morning. I will then place the order over the weekend. I am paying the supplier with a bank transfer so that might take a couple of days to clear but I have also arranged for the Ghost Rings to be sent directly to you. When negotiating the price getting them posted in bulk to me then posted on to you just doubled up the postage costs. So once the payments clears the Ghost Rings should start going out with no delay.

UPDATE

These should be coming into stock this week and will be posted straight away. So hopefully you should have them by early next week, if not sooner.

MagiKelly
22-11-2005, 14:36
I have just found out that the Ghost Rings have not even left China yet. It is hoped that they will leave at the end of the week. I am not sure how long they would take to get here and given that an order placed over two weeks ago has not left yet I am less than optimistic nor happy.

Given that I can give no clear delivery date on these I am offering a full refund to anyone who wants it. That includes PayPal fees where appropriate. I will issue refunds immediately and will sort out the detials with the supplier.

Of course you do not have to cancel your order but I doubt the Ghost Rings will be with you for at least two weeks. I can't even guarantee they will be here for Christmas.

Needless to say I am not at all happy about this and fully support those who may want a refund.

Phil562
22-11-2005, 14:45

John I wouldn't stress about it,

This is just a minor delay in comparison to what I have been dealing with:(

MagiKelly
22-11-2005, 15:33
Just to be clear. The person I am dealing with has been told the same information as I have. It is the manufacturer that seem to a have been a little tardy.

Perhaps I am just a little spoilt as all previous group buys have gone through so quickly. My contct is confident that the Ghost Rings will definately be here well before Christmas but after the initial delay I am more cautious. That is just the way I am.

As for stress.... you should try doing my day job for a while :D

Okay more news. I am afraid I was right. It has now been confirmed that the Ghost Rings would not be ready to ship till some time towards the end of January. Given how things have progressed so far I would not even be confident with this date.

So I am going to be sending out full refunds over the next couple of days. these will all be by cheque to save on fees. One good thing is that I have all your addresses on labels in word format that I prepared for the supplier so I just need to print these and write a cheque for the appropriate amount.

I fairness to the supplier they have kept me up to date with developments as and when they arose, it is the manufacturer that has been playing silly buggers.

John, I'm not envolved in this group buy but just to try and save everyone a few pence, anyone that paid by payapl, you can actually return their payment any fees collected by paypal are returned to the sender of the fees. So if someone sent you £5 and you got £4.75 - when you return the £5 you send £4.75 and paypal will pay the remaining costs.

Its a shame to see the group buy go down the plug hole as they looked like a cool and clever bit of kit.

I think there is a time limit on when you can refund a PayPal transaction and when I have had refunds PayPal still held on to part of the fee. I will look into this anyway in case I can shorten the process a bit.

MagiKelly
29-11-2005, 22:56
Yep the payments are now past the refund time. Also the money was transferred out of PayPal into my bank as I had transferred the money from the bank to pay the supplier

So cheques it will be unless that really does not suit anybody.

29-11-2005, 23:28

Okay I found out how to refund through PayPal after all and they refund the fees so no one is out of pocket. Had to find a slightly lateral way of getting funds into my PayPal account so I could deal with this tonight but I managed that.

So the upshot is that all people who paid with paypal have now been refunded. Cheques have been written to those who paid that way and these will be posted tomorrow.

So that should be us all tied up now. The supplier will be refunding me shortly and that will be the end of this particular group buy. Not the usual ending but no harm done none the less
