Is there a tutorial or could someone give advice on how to strip bark from a tree all I seem to get is small is small chips and slivers :confused:

Buy a short but broad and springy paint scraper :D After you get a cut into the bark the paint scraper kedges under and lifts the bark quite neatly.
Of course if you were doing it *properly bushcrafty* :cool: you'd carve yourself out a fine pointed but flat bladed wedge of suitable timber. :o I *have* to make one for myself, the paint scraper's just so handy though.

It's also worth pointing out that you can do this with some trees whilst it's pretty much impossible with others. What were you trying it on?

If you are trying now then it is the wrong time of year as the sap has now dropped back into the root system. The best time to bark is in April when the sap is flowing at its fastest.........!

You mean like Patrick M does in the tinder box tutorial? He makes it look soo easy... :(
