Not essentially a bushcraft item, but still outdoorsy.

Has anyone had any experiance with the above jacket. I need to replace my hiking jacket for this winter and have been offered one Brand new at a very reasonable price, but is it worth it? Does it have any design faults?

I can't find any reviews on it anywhere.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance :You_Rock_

Berghaus Storm II (http://uk.bizrate.com/buy/noncat_prod_details__oid--344068020.html)

Personally, for that price, I'd go buy a Ventile Cairngorm jacket (http://www.west-winds.net/ventile_jackets.htm)

I say this because while Ventile is not 'waterproof' per say, if you correctly layer yourself, (base layer, thermal layer) you'll be FAR more comfortable than in your Berghaus, if you purchase it.

Anyway, I'd say the choice is basically up to you. I used to swear by Gore-Tex, but now I'm completely converted to Ventile, and I'll never buy another Gore-Tex jacket again. Yes, I'm that impressed.

If you're really curious about how the two fabrics compare, do a forum search on this board, read all the threads, and then make a decision for yourself.

Depends what you want to use it for, walking the dog, picnics and sight seeing and the like it'll be a good buy, but there are so many good jackets out there that are built with stronger, lighter and more durable water repellancy. The only good thing i can say about the storm jacket is that its got the gore backup which means alot to people.
Have sold more than i care to mention in my time to the right people and never had a complaint, but there use is limited due to the cut, fit of the hood and the materials used, BUT THEN AGAIN IF ITS THAT CHEAP its probably worth a go
