Different Grinds

I've been reading the threads for a few months and I've noticed the use of a few different types of grinds being used such as the scandinavian(scandi) etc. I was just wondering what are the different types, what are they used for, which is the best(most popular) and what do they look like. Could someone please help me out here :confused: .
