Possibly, but then most things seem to be nowadays!

No idea about antibacterial, but it's good for skin, especially for psoriasis and similar conditions.

Coal tar soap used to have antibacterial properties but then the do gooders decided to save us all from making our own decisions and now it's only coal tar scented soap.... :(

What nobody these days seems to realise is that life will kill you in the end.....

Given the choice, go for the Pine Tar - the smell doesn't scare off animals like the Coal Tar does, so you'll get to see more wildlife.

No idea about the antibiotic properties though

Apart from Woodlore, where can I get good Pine Tar soap?

I have always used coal tar soap in the house. I always keep a bar in the bathroom so that the kids can use it to wash their hands, that way I know if they have washed them properly. When I have visitors they think it a little strange to have such a strong smelling soap. I think we get ours from tescos, its a little more expensive than your normal soaps, but it does the job well enough and lasts longer.

I tried looking a few weeks ago, but ended up buying from Woodlore. I am really impressed by this soap as I have always had dryish skin. This soap really helps and is excellent for shampooing.

If anyone does know a supplier I would be interested.

I have begun the search for the elusive Pine tar soap as well and am disgusted not to find any (except RM site of course) that sells the stuff. I did a quick search on evilbay and came up with a few american people, by the time we have faffed with shipping it will cost more than what you pay for the soap in the first place. There has got to be someone out there who makes the stuff (i.e handmade rather than commercial). The search continues....

To add additives to soap is relatively simple. Has anyone got a bar of the pine tar soap which lists the ingredients on it's wrapper; I've got several sources for soap making ingredients as well as a friend who makes totally organic, biodegradeable, etc.. soaps. Give me a name as well as Pine Tar and we'll see what can be done.

Cheers,
Toddy
