Sharpening a spoon knife

Hi members

I hope someone is able to help with this one!

At the WG I bought my first spoon knife. I tried it whilst I was there but I think it requires sharpening properly before I attempt something serious.

So who can tell me the best way to put an edge on a spoon knife?

Also what is the best wood to start with?

I have a nice little ceramic rod (about 1/2" diameter, 4" long) that does the inside nicely. Only problem is, I have no idea where it came from! :eek: Well, as long as you know that such things exist, you can keep on the lookout for them.
