How about a meet up at Wiston lads and lasses?
Gives us the use of toilet facilities and plenty space.
Dependant on their permission of course but I know I'm itching for a wee get together again.
Discuss?

Was thinking of there recently :cool:
You know that Lanark medieval festival is on this weekend coming ?
If I park the car with a bit of room beside it and we stretch a tarp out from it we could have a brew up over a long lunchtime there on the Saturday and it would let folks have a rummage around the stalls too :) Everything from leather to horn, sharps and shinies to fabric.
If the weather's good it's brilliant, but if we have a bit of cover it's insurance :cool:
Wiston's close enough if I need to get home, I'd like a camp out too :)

I'm down in the shire of England this week coming, so might not be back for Sat or Sun.
Anyhoos, when suits for Wiston?
My anniversary is 18 Sept so I better be at home for that.
But What remains of August suits too,I'm sure there's plenty of space at Wiston we could use even if it was busy.
Sooner the better,even if it means having two or three meets there to accommodate everyone who wants to go,near enough for me too in case of emergencies at home.
Nathan can't make August but any time afterwards is fine by us

Not far from Lanark.
They have a website just search for Wiston Lodge.
I pass it when going to Penicuik from here in Ayrshire.
It's at the bottom of Tinto Hill.

If you can get a train from Glasgow to Lanark, then there's a wee bus passes through the village and it's about five minutes walk to the site from there, if it's of any help Scott.

It's where Tam and Colin camped out at the New Year in the snow :D

Ok folks...
I've spoken to Wiston and we can go on the dates stated.
PLEASE NOTE, WE CANNOT HAVE ALCOHOL ON SITE.
This is due to there being vulnerable youngsters also camping,which is Wistons main purpose.
I have no problem with this and tbh could do with a rest from the drink,whereby I might actually make something useful. Lol
Fees are £6 pp per night, which is the same price as a couple of years ago.
They can provide a load of wood for us at £20, which would save us hauling same from the woods.
Hammocking is available too.
If we are all agreed on No alcohol on site, the fees and chipping in for the wood please say so and I'll submit the official booking form to Jonathan at Wiston.
RSVP asap please.

If I bring my firebowl and the tripods, etc., it makes things easy.
I've also got a smaller firebowl for Sniper from Russ. If John doesn't make the meet will someone who lives closer to him take it home please so he has a chance at getting it this side of the New Year?

Sounds good. 2 hours drive up but think I can make it. Yep! Just checked and I'm free so will take the plunge again. If it's ok can I come with either tent or tarp and bivvy.
Will be second meet up so I'll come the Friday since I missed all the fun at Comrie on the Friday night there in June. Obviously no alcohol so possibly no air guitars round the fire early in the morning / late at night.
BTW if anyone wants a lift up from North Lancs / South Cumbria on the Friday afternoon let me know. Got a little estate car that can probably fit another person's gear in too. Just need to get some new gear for it now.

I've got four stones bored out to make pump drills but I need to make spindles. It'd be good to have them finished ? make the assorted tips too ?

I am new to the skills side of bushcraft (well campcraft side and a few bits apart) so I have to admit I'm going to see what goes on at meets. I have no doubt whatever people do will most likely be new to me. Also be good to put some more faces to people on here.
Barn Owl - As for the good music for air guitar I'll bring my work phone. Can't guarantee good music but it has a reasonable speaker and battery to it so I can play the music I have on it. I hope people aren't put off by punk. The Clash through to Cash and some obscure stuff in between. Still don't know where I got some burning spear from. :D
I need ti cancel this one , i forgot i also had a sea fishing trip booked for sun at loch etive , ah well next time

I should deffo be there on Saturday morning through to Sunday, what's everyone doing sleep wise? Is it all tents or are there places to hammock?
I've just returned from a course at Wiston. There are two permanent parachute shelters and loads of places to hammock in the woods.

I'll be there i reckon around 1pm.
If anyone is there before, ask for Jonathan and he'll point out where is already booked.
It's a big place though, so iuf their chutes and tipis are being used we've still a lot of space for us.
