These seem to be the two packs to choose from, what does everyone think?

Both fantastic packs but very much a fashion statement, there are too many other to list.A pack is a very personal item and you reaslly need to get the one that suits you best.

Do you need a 100 L pack weighing ca. 3 K empty? It may pay you to look at other Berghaus models. Also look at Lowe Alpine packs. My big winter pack (80+15 L) is a Lowe Alpine, and it is a) bomb proof and b) very comfortable with adjustable back system.

The Vulcan is 80+20, so not as big as a PLCE or Karrimor 60-100. There is also a Sabre 75. All renowned Bushcraft use bags. Vulcan and Sabre not not adjust for back length but the Vulcan comes in different sizes. The Vulcan is the best made of the bags IMO. It's also lighter than the others.

The sabres 60-100 & 80-130 are heavier, have far superior adjustible back systems, their shoulder & hip belts are second to none, have all the loops, attachment points, whistles & bells your'll ever need & come in 3 colours...........so my choice would be the berghaus vulcan.

As these are your only options, I'd go for the Vulcan. I don't get on with Karrimor (I assume you're talking about the 60-100). With the Vulcan you also have removable sidepockets (daysack; or Super Ultra Light overnight pack). If you can try them on - do so. The Lowe Alpine Sting(ray) is also a good alternative if you come across one, and for a fair price (second hand, DPM though). It fits in between the packs you've listed (60+20).

HI

Both packs are great!

I have used both over the years.

There are a few second hand ones on ebay at the moment and I am tempted....
