Look like and inside out kelly kettle. E.g. You light a small fire in the bottom and boil the water in the bottle or cup in the chimney.

Hilariously badly, in my experience:

fill bottle
arrange wire bit to support bottle in stove-pipe
light fire in bottom
insert bottle in top
feed fire thru small hole
...
err
...
bottle slips down crushing fire (optional)
fire goes out, water not boiled
swear
repeat indefinitely

I assumed boiling the water in (sans cork). I should try using the mug as the boiler and the bottle as a mantlepiece ornament, mayhap.

I may be missing something, of course. Kept me busy for an evening, though...

Get a 1 pt Kelly instead, or a cheap Trangia if you want to do more than boil water...

HTH,

Jim.

Jim and Mark,

Brilliant review and a much better use of a bottle.
