I'm happy to say that Forgewood have said we can meet there again for our May get-together! Will see if we can book space away from the main camping areas this time...
Neil will be teaching there on the weekend of 14/15 May, so we can tie the dates together and he can join in a bit.
Same venue as per our meet in April - http://www.forgewoodcamping.co.uk/gettingthere.html
Can you please confirm your interest below and I would like final numbers by 12 May if possible. Copy the full list, adding your name at the bottom.
If for any reason you find out you can't make it at the last minute, please PM to let me know).

cant make it again!!!!!!!!!!
Can definitely do the night of the 13th and the night of the 14th but will have to head off (very) early the Sunday morning. Which also means I'll have been lazy and taken the car there rather than walking in from Sunny Tunny.

I've foolishly agreed to accompany Mrs DHD on a cycle sportive that weekend. Not at all sure that was a good idea. Ah well - maybe June then!
Thanks anyway.

Should be great with a private location and Neil teaching. Cant wait and it will be first sleep out in my new bridge hammock, which I tried for the first time today and it was great.
The forgewood site says they're doing the bushcraft lessons every Saturday. Any idea on the cost if we fancy joining in with Neil's lesson?

Look forward to meeting you all
You will enjoy it as we have a nice small group building there, with lots to do. The campsite is good & if we have the same weather we had last time it will be wonderful. It will be good to meet some more local bushcrafters

Am still waiting for confirmation that the rate will be the same as last time.
Shall we aim for the communal meal on saturday night? Esp if we can pre-book meat?
communal meal sounds good, wonder if they'd let us shoot one of the dear on the estate? then we could have that for a communal meal! now wouldnt that be nice!

Sounds good to me, i'll let you know asap if it's just me or me +2
Communal meal sounds good, as we should aim to get our group cooking up to the same level I have seen in the pics of other meets. We can reserve some of those ribs again but will need some more grill area to cook them on as my GB folding grill only holds 1 pack. I will bring along my big 2' diameter grill if one of us has not picked up one of those Lauditch grills by then (I am tempted).
i will be coming allong too

Slight alternation in plans - definitely there for the Friday night and the full day on Saturday - but have to head off end of the evening on Saturday.
Still it'll be good to get out for a night - and good to meet you all.
Just sorry I can't stay the full whack.
/D
Im aiming to be there sometime Saturday AM, be good to get out with some like minded folk and gawd only knows i need a break at the moment
Just done 3 days at the Bushcraft Magazine camp & loved it, so am thinking of doing both nights. Is anyone else thinking of doing the Friday night?

Depending on what time Pinky and I can both get away from work on Friday, we may be able to do 2 nights...

i will be doing friday if i can, but at the moment there's no way to tell, not sure if i'll even have a job to not be doing to be able to go. but i shall try my hardest.
I am planning to do the 2 days, so will be there around 6:30 to 7ish on the Friday. The extra day really makes it seem a lot longer I find, after last weekend's 3 dayer at the Bushcraft Magazine do in Kent.
Do we have any news on the price yet?
Nova & Pinky
04-05-2011, 20:15
Haven't had any news on anything yet, despite repeated emails, voice messages and asking Neil if he can try...
Don't worry, I'll get us somewhere - have to say though, the lack of response is really annoying me, especially after they had said weeks ago that we were fine for May...
A bit worrying that. Hopefully we can get confirmation that we still have a space before some of us turn up on the Friday.
thats quite irritating. they better not try and deny me a weekend of campfire and relaxation.

Happy to confirm our booking for next weekend :)
Still waiting to find out about the meat though!
Good news that we have the site. We can call them up about the meat nearer the time; if not then we can always do a trip to Tesco's. Looking forward to this one.

I'm happy to marinate a load of belly pork beforehand :D
that is most reassuring that we have a confirmed booking. i reckon we should buy an entire pig and spit roast it!
I went over to the site this evening (to sort a "parachute issue") and spoke to Pablo.
If you guys want a more secluded area - you may want to try the other side of the gully, not many folks venture over there, the ground is'nt that level for tents - but for hammock dwellers its great!
I'm on a job elsewhere on the Saturday daytime, but I'll come over in the evening (one of the other guys will be running classes during the day).
I hope to see plenty of you there!
N
I wandered into that area on the other side of the gully by accident last time - and pitched up before I realized my mistake. And packed up and moved.
It is nice over there ...

I am hoping to be there on the Friday night about 6:30 to 7:00ish. If Nova can bring some ribs thatwould be great. We can bring some breakfast bits & stuff for other meals to even things out. Looking forward to this.

* For those who've not been to the site before, directions can be found here: http://www.forgewoodcamping.co.uk/gettingthere.html
* To help make things easier with the site office, can you please let me have your 'real' names so I can give them a list of who to expect and on which day?
* The office have still not let me know if there is any change to rates, so please assume for the moment that they are the same as last time (ie, £10/adult/night). Unless I hear beforehand, children's rates will need to be advised by the office on arrival - sorry!
A group update (including details of future meet venues) can be found HERE (http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/group.php?gmid=1633&do=discuss#gmessage1633)

Have fun people. I wish I was coming with you!
Replied to mail :)
Going to be getting there about 17:00 on Friday - by car - as I have to leave on Saturday evening but would like to stick around as late as possible.
As I'm driving in this time does anyone need any supplies carting in?
Also I presume we just collar John or Pablo and say we're with the BCUK group ...?
DaveWL: I will hopefully see you around 7, by time I have booked in etc.. Cant wait as I have lots of things to try out this weekend.
i'll be arriving around mid afternoon on the friday.
see you all there.

I have emailed the list of names to the site.
Whoever is there first, can you please say you are with the BCUK bushcraft group. Explain that Neil has spoken to Pablo, who was going to keep us a spot the other side of the gully.
Thanks!

Oh dear. That explanation didn't suffice when I turned up at 1430 hours. Reception were remarkably unhelpful and no-one else was there so I returned home.

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. What did they say?
The list of people I sent earlier actually got a response...
Oh well, lucky we have a possible venue for the next meet lined up already.

Likewise - was good to meet you too Dave!
I'll hope to put up the few pics I took this time, later this evening. I'll also stick up details of the next meet(s). :)
Another great meet, just what I needed after a very busy week. It was good just to chillout with some like minded people, especially on the Sunday morning; sitting round a fire on a Sunday morning chatting & drinking tea, after a good fried breakfast is my new favorite way of spending a Sunday morning. It was good that we are gradually getting a bit more organized, with all the camp cooking stuff etc.. I would like to do more each time we go out but I just seem to end up sitting round the fire chatting....
Looking forward to the new dates. which will hopefully be towards the middle of the month. Dave

Okay, new thread for provisional dates in the Sussex Group section HERE (http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/group.php?gmid=1636&do=discuss#gmessage1636) :)
I suspect we will end up moving between a couple of venues depending on their availability, and in the latter half of the year, I'll try to book ahead for next year!
I popped down to the car park at 5.30 am on Sat morning but for some reason you unsociable buggers were all asleep in your scratchers! :lmao:
