Having recently bought myself a budget frosts mora knife, i really want to replace its terrible plastic sheath. Does anyone know of any online shops that sell good quality sheaths for a reasonable price. thanks

I know that Allan Blade make them in Kydex, but I don't know how long you would currently have to wait for one. :)

Had a feeling you were gonna say that! Don't suppose you have a pattern do you? I fancy making something similar though knowing my handicraft abilities I should really stay well away... :D

They're really nice!

Rubbish.
I made this with an old tool belt and the handle with a bit of old mahogany from the cellar

There was a really nice tutorial over on BB that i followed - never made sheaths in this way before though i do do lots of other leatherwork. Turned out really well and easy too.

Having watched the forum for some time now I finally got round to joining. So I thought it was about time I contributed.
The sheath I made was done by using the knowledge and link provided by you guys on the forum. I didn’t find it that hard and it only took me about 2-3 hours. I should point out that I did not use any specialist tools. Just a stanley knife, eating fork (for marking the stitch holes) Drill and a tea spoon for moulding. the leather. I bough the leather from www.leprevo.co.uk and the twine from my local shoe repair shop. I haven’t dyed it yet as this was my prototype.

I hope this helps you take the plunge and make your own, as there is nothing more satisfying than creating something useful.

I have one question for the forum, the sheath I made fits on the left side which I prefer as a right handed person, hold with left draw with right. What do people prefer left or right as I noticed left hand sheaths are rare.

Well done Thistle and welcome to BCUK.

In answer to your question about left / right draw check this recent BCUK poll
