Colin, I think Ed would like you to post the list here as he won't be able to access your link, with it being on British Blades.
I would have done it but I'm not allowed to access it! :-?

That's cos your usergroup doesnt have permission to access that page. :)
Hint, apply for BCCA membership. :)

Thanks for that Col, never saw it the first time round. For clarity, the list is the meta-tags for the site. They help search engines rank our site in terms of relevance to content and search words. Anyone can view the meta-tags easily by going to BB and clicking on "view > source" in your browser.

He may be using Websense or Surf Patrol at work, which restricts sites such as porn, race hate, extreme politics and fanaticism and firearms etc.

The categories are vague and I think BB will possibly come under firearms/weapons as a blocked hit. To show how mad some of the categories are, I was at work seaching for some info on the rock band "Led Zeppelin" and kept getting blocked from music sites. Had a word with our internet admin, and he said the sites were blocked because they contained the word "Zeppelin". Zeppelin being an airship of the German Luftwaffe was considered a weapon and as such sites were blocked. Mad as a hatful of polecats !!

So nothing containing the word frigate (isn't there a frigate bird?), no stalwarts (Alvis), no hogs (Humber), no bobmber (jackets), no fox (armoured car, or light tank?)...

I'm not that up on this computer stuff, but I guess its like MadDave said it down to some sort of blocking at our end.

It is quiet intresting (annoying) what it will and wont let through.

Sorry sent that before I'm finished.

The reason I'm after someone local is that I'd like to see how it done before I have a go myself.

As I'm new(ish) to "serious" bushcraft - having playedat it since I was a kid, any recogmendation of a good cheap beginners/intermediate knife.
I was thinking of one of the Kellam Lapp pukkos.

Also I'm a southpaw - does it make any difference with these blades?

Cheers for your help

Ed,

I have two of the Wolverines & can attest to the quality, I cant say, however, that they'll stand up to the sort of pounding that I've heard you butchers give your poor knives! BUT, they're good knives as far as I can see

As they have a dangler type sheath, I see no reason why they shouldn't be used by deviants like yourself (you'll just have to ask Bagman, he's one too  )

i'm a leftie and love my IJ puukko. i pulled the ring with belt loop off and just have the sheath hanging with a leather bootlace through the remaining hole in the sheath. it's be easier to show with a pic than explain in writing. but carrying the sheath back to front with the seam on the outside looks like it was meant to be 8-)

cheers, and.

never thought about the probs for left handed sheaths. do neck sheaths work for both.

on the point of net blocking i've had trouble with biology revision as they contain rude words what a shocking thing the human body is

It depends... I mostly do Kydex sheaths, and if I'm doing a flat-backed one, then most definitely it matters. If they're a clamshell-design, then I like to know the handedness of the wearer so I can get the rivets nice side out :)

Scandi sheath are easy to make left handed.

It simply means that they bend the other way. By thi I mean that when the sheath is being formed you put the knife in with the belly of the blade facing to the right instead of the left!
