Another newbie introduction... :o
After many years of urbanisation and city dwelling I'm finally working my way back to the woodland. I had the good fortune to grow up close to unmanaged and very old woodland - camp making, fishing, airgunning, fire lit evenings and overnighters all featured heavily! Bliss.. My mothers family came from generations of Norfolk fen folk - carpenters, game keepers and the like - grampa taught me how to fish and shoot rabbit, crow and other vermin.. ;)
Somehow, after many years, I've woken up to find my hands callous free and bonded to a computer keyboard! How can that have happened?
Always drawn to such programs as River Cottage and Mr Myers, I'm finding that the heart longs something more real that the synthetic trappings of a world gone mad.. :D So, here I am at the best web community I've seen in years! Room for one more by that fire?
That old unmanaged woodland is now a well managed conservation site - which will save it from the decline of the Greenbelt, but leaves little for the buddy bushcraft person/child - anyone know of a good spot or two where I can escape too in the Herts area?
/end of ramble... :D
