The site has some awesome tools but also lacks some useful features (rather, i can't find them)
A particularly useful tool would be a 'notifications' page dedicated to giving notifications of anyone who has sent you a personal message, quoted you in a thread, new posts appear in subscribed threads and so on.
I know some of these already exist but the layout is very choppy and requires lots of navigating between pages.
One page with all types of updates and notifications would be awesome.
Lets here what you think

This sets up your notifications for privates messages Profile General Settings (http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/profile.php?do=editoptions)
For alerts on threads you have posted in use this (http://www.bushcraftuk.com/forum/subscription.php) and from within the thread you want to watch select "Thread Tools" from the top then "Subscribe to this thread"
As for alerts on when you are quoted in a thread I think would put a large strain on the server as it would have to query every thread for updates and check against every username all the time.

modifying the reply with quote button should get around the problem, would take about the same amount of strain a personal message would
My pm box floods on a regular basis despite my occasionally frantic attempts to keep on top of it :o, I don't think I could handle any more notification tbh.
I know I'm not the only one with this issue, too.
See what the Boss thinks though.
cheers,
M

Add an option to turn it on or off, thats the beauty of settings :)
As a thought, you could add the feature of 'rules' to the inbox to help automaticly sort messages into folders.
If you arnt sure what im on about ill try to explain below
Rules are used in most email applications including Microsoft Outlook and Windows Live/Hotmail
When you receive an email, it is cross checked with any rules you have, and moves it to the relavent folder
An example of a rule is: If sender's name is "eBay" then move email to folder named "ebay"
Another example is: If message subject contains the word "FREE!" then move email to folder named "Junk"
A rule is made up of two parts, the IF statement/condition and the action to perform if true.
The condition can check the sender name, subject, message content or all 3
The condition can match one or more words you enter to perform the action
Instead of matching words, you can optional check for a specific phrase such as "February Meetup", meening emails only wth the whole phrase will be moved. "February","Meetup" and "February kjfls kejsd kjfdl Meetup" will not be moved.
THe most common, action to perform is to move the email to another folder instead of the inbox
THe user can choose which folder to move it to
Other actions that are possible are to automattically delete the email. THis, for obvious reasons is not reccomended and moving to the junk folder is more sensible
Ok I hope that helps if you weren't too sure, and apologies if this system already exists, I still cannot find it
No idea but tbh, my total limit is 500, right now I'm at 487............and a heck of a lot of those I don't want to lose or misplace.
I just could *not* be bothered to search through over 30 different topics to find something or through seperate friends lists either.
It already causes me chaos when I have to ditch pms in a hurry instead of concise print them.
The option to shift stuff to folders is available, I don't think it's automated the way you would prefer though.
I have fifteen open conversations at the moment; I find the relevant posts by name. S'easy :) When they taper off I clear past pms.
I don't know how busy your pm boxes are, but I'm not alone in my numbers, lots of members are as busy as I am.
I have no idea what your suggestions require re program apps, as I said, run it past the Boss and see what he says :)
cheers,
Toddy

The Boss (Tony) is away with his family at the moment.
Just because you didn't get a reply within all of three days doesn't mean you won't.
