Hi guys,

I have been a fan of Ray Mears as long as he has been on BBC (I also 'love' Les Hiddins episodes).

I really couldn't afford to spend 195 British Pounds on his knife so in the past years I used "Woodlore-ish" knives.

Now through pure luck I managed to buy an original unused Woodlore knife bought in 1997 and it comes with the original neck/belt sheath but this one doesn't have an firesteel holder. :-D
My guess is that in 1997 there were no Large Military Firesteels from Light-My-Fire Sweden (or am I wrong?)

I read on Mears site that replacement sheaths are only for Woodlore knives from January 2003 onwards as something changed size wise,
what changed :?:

I'm really looking forward receiving it :o):

Best Scouting wishes,

Bagheera

I think the new sheath will fit. Specs for the knife are unchanged I believe.

I'm sure it's pretty close.
If it's a little too tight just wet the sheath slightly, force the knife in and let dry.

Remember to wrap the knife in cling film first or the blade will rust.

i have a 1998 one with the same sheath your getting.. i have also seen a 2006 one and the design has changed quite a bit. the 1998 one does fit in the current belt sheath (which has no firesteel loop) and i would guess it will fit the other current sheath too.
Cheers
TT

EDIT: i have just realised this thread is two years old and probably isnt relevant anymore.

Err, guys, I think that Bagheera got his knife over two years ago :D

Saying that it would be interesting to see how he's getting on with it ;)

There was a chap on the forum who made a firesteel micro-sheath to fit his knife sheath. Can't remember who but it was a lovely job. Have a search - it didn't look too difficult.

Tone, you old double poster ;) :nana:

Bagheera had some troubles with his knife. Don't know what the situation is at the moment though.
