Couple of questions. Are these your common garden snail? Also, does cooking kill any potential parasites?

One traditional way to "clean out" snails is to leave them to eat a diet of nettles for at least 24 hours.

You must cook them fully before eating them; I remember several stories of teenage boys in Australia eating raw slugs or snails for a dare, and contracting parasitic meningitis.

Although there is less risk of catching the worm in Europe, the risk may well rise in the future, and is already a problem in much of S.E. Asia and parts of the southern USA.
