I like the bead blasted finish as it's more subtle.

Its going to be a user,Im not sure subtle is exactly what i want.

Im looking for people that have either and can tell me what the difference is.

Thanks.

Personally, i find that the beadblast surface is more prone to surface rust spots if you don't keep it oiled or clean it meticulously after every outing - whereas a polished surface seems to be better protected and a little more forgiving IMHO :)

I assumed it was a user that's why I said subtle. Unless you want a mirror finished blade flashing about all over the place.

There is no evidence that finished flats are more rust resistant than polished, but it's known that a finished flat will hold oils more readily and will obviously be more water repellant. I've used beaded for a few years now as well as polished, and both will need looking after if in O1 tool steel. The bonus on the beaded is that it is less reflective. Polished will lose it's shine as it gets scratches through use anyway, but the scratches will show up more.

Here's one of mine with blasted flats...

Polished has a mirror finish as you'd expect.

But we can't tell you which you will like better. It's personal preference, so you have to choose yourself.

I have a bead finish Trapper. I put it together from a kit, not really any cost savings but some personal satisfaction. Useful knife, good size and weight.

It's my own knife. Bead blasted finish though. Did have a polished one, which was very nice...

I bought one recently that has the bead blasted finish. I like it just fine.
I had a stainless knife once with a mirror polish. Great to use as a mirror, not so good otherwise.I've often wondered how many bush pilots I accidentally signaled while out in the bush....:)I'd say if you go for polished then stay with carbon.
