Noticed Swazi are having a sale and the Tahr Anorak similar to the Ray Mears one works out at £208.27 ?
Anyone know the difference between the 2 versions of this Anorak ? ie: material, updates, mods etc.
Is it worth purchasing the reduced price version from Swazi or pay the difference and get a RM version ?
Would there be expensive import duty ? (I'm new to this online ordering lark)

Hi,

The main differences between a regular Tahr and a RM Thar are:

RM Tahr has 2 chest pockets
RM Tahr has different adjustment on Cuffs
RM Tahr has the RM branding...

The fabric iirc is the same as a regular Tahr but I think you can only get the RM in Tussock not OG..

Anything you buy from Swazi online should be devoid of NZ GST (15%) if it's shipping out of NZ but you'll pay for shipping... I'm not sure on UK custom charges but you may well get hit with a customs charge and S+H on the way in.

For a while with the XR and price of the Tahr new in NZ it was actually cheaper by a few NZ$ to buy one from RM and get it shipped back to NZ than buy one here.

The current Swazi sale price is very good. Plus if you order you get a nice box, catalogue and some sweets...

I tried a Tahr on the other week in RD1 and it is a very nice jacket. It sort of gets a mixed review here in NZ folk like the face fabric because it's quiet for stalking etc but almost everyone comments that it absorbs a lot of water and the jacket gets quite heavy. For what I want it for the Tahr is over kill hence I plumped for a Narwhal.

Add 25-30% for vat, duties and handling charges, plus delivery.
Perhaps the outer quiet fabric can be retreated to shed more water?
