While working on one of the nature reserves I manage, I found this bird sitting in the top of a dead Elm tree  ......somewhat surprising as its a Kookaburra, the worlds largest species of kingfisher and only found in Australia  . This one had obviously escaped from a collection. They feed on reptiles, small mammals and insects. Managed to get a picture of it in an Oak tree. It had gone the followig day :(

(cheers for sorting my attachment problem TONE :D )

Have you managed to find out where it escaped from?

:)

Noooo....apparently they are easy to breed in captivity and so very popular  We had a Ferruginous Hawk (native to the states I believe  ) a couple of years ago. Maybe they came from the same collection ;)
