Hi team,i have been having problems when writing up posts which are quite long. The box in which you type the post lets you write so much text then, the little slider thing on the righthand side jumps back to the top of your post and won't let you continue writing,as everytime you try to get to the bottom of the post it just jumps back to the top again.

I hope that makes sense.

Cheers Stuart.

I've got no idea about what's happening there Stuart.

I'll flag this up and we'll see if Admin can sort it out though.

To be honest the editiing arrangements on the forum suck, big time, but I don't recognize exactly the symptoms that you describe. It would help to know exactly what browser you're using (most non-computer people tend to forget that it's the user's browser that does most of the work, not the foum software). As a workaround you might be able to make the text box bigger. You should see at the top right hand corner of the box, just outside the actual text area, two little symbols like up and down arrows. If you click the down arrow it should make the text box bigger. If it doesn't, install Firefox and use that instead. It's what I'm using, although I'm using it under Gnu/Linux. If you haven't got GNU/Linux you might want to consider installing that too, but that would have to be a different thread. :)

I've had something similar, But put it down to the sensitvity of the touch-pad on my laptop, It has a double tap function, enabling me to use my touch pad like a scroll wheel on a mouse, Usually another double tap sorts it.

Umm, so we're talking the quick reply area rather than the advanced area? If it's the fact that the box is too small and doesn't accommodate the amount of text you can increase the size of the box using the little arrows to the top right of the box, bottom one for making the box bigger and top one for making it smaller, I don't think there's a limit to how big you can make the box.
The advanced editing area is just the same with the arrows next to the button that allows you to switch editing mode.

I've never had a problem with the right hand slider bouncing to the top.

Just seen Ged's post about the box expander...goodjob

The advanced editing area is just the same ...

Tony is right in that the advanced editing area has the little arrows to let you make the text entry box bigger, but it isn't the same in that (at least in my browser:)) the "quick reply" area is pretty much the full screen width, whereas the advanced editing box is only about a quarter of the screen width. If you have a longish post to write, or to reply to, or you want to do multi-quoting, or in fact just about anything really, the advanced editing box is cr@p. I've found it most troublesome when doing group buys, when things can get (a) fairly involved and (b) fraught. It was so bad that I ended up creating my own forum just for one group buy.

Tony, can you do anything about the width of the text box in the advanced editing pain?
