You live in Bodø then Tor. I've only ever changed planes in Bodø, and not seen the town itself, although I have often wanted to. Velkommen til BCUK! It's always good to have more Norwegians around :D

Hi Tor Helge, I'll be up your way in July/September Working at Borg on Lofoten.

Wayland

I`ve been at Borg earlier (in fact I also drove by the museum last week). I`ll probably see you in July as I plan to visit my uncle at Gravdal and the museum at Borg at that time.

I shall be at the museum from the 29th July - 26th August, the rest of the time is spent travelling to, from and around.

If you are going over it's worth knowing they are having a "Viking market" around the weekend of 6th-7th August with some interesting craftspeople present. I think they are trying to get some Sami traders there too.

You may be able to help me a bit actually, I will be aproaching from the North because we are doing a bit of sight seeing first. So I've been looking at a map for the best way to get my van onto the islands and I've spotted a road between the E10 at Gullesfjiordbotn and Fiskebøl.

None of my English guide books mention this road, is it useable? or is there some kind of problem with it? do you know about it at all?

Any local knowledge you could give me would be very useful.

Hi Wayland.

The road you are talking about is still under construction. The best option is the ferry from Melbu to Fiskebøl.
By the way, I come from a small place in that area called Hennes. You can see it from the ferry. Just look at the Møysalen mountain :).

Aha.. That would explain a lot, I'm very glad I asked now, that probably saved me an awful lot of bother. :D
