Are there any other bag products which are as bomb proof and as well made as the North Face Duffel Bags??

Like this

I got a couple cheap the other day and am seriously impressed with the overall quality and build spec , anything like it but cheaper on the market?

I got a bag of similar quality from a dive shop a few years ago.

Not quite the same thing but the Alpkit Drydocks (http://www.alpkit.com/shop/cart.php?target=product&product_id=16369&category_id=295) are superb. I use the bigger 90L one for extended canoe trips and it's plenty for a week or two. Obviously the shoulder straps are handy but also they have conventional carry handles on the long sides too.

Alternatively, hit the army surplus stores and see if you can pick up an old canvas RAF/Army kit bag.
I don't think it's physically possible to destroy one, even RAF Movers can't break them

I have about 6 of those bags already , as you say good bit of Bomb Proof kit, ideal for Tools and sharps.

I do like the Northface bags , but the prices...:nono:

The army surplus shop in Southsea called Sabre Sales is selling some bags used by the silly buggers from Pool. Although I don't know the price I will bet on that they are a lot cheaper... but also rather worn

Not really mate, built like a tank and would probably handle a shower or two, but I wouldn't say water proof.

Lomo do some good gear, they have all sorts of waterproof bags of all shapes and sizes.

Gelert make some bags very similar to the North Face bag.

I've had one for a couple of years and it's still going strong.

Warning about the black deployment bags. The buckles and straps can rip off if you load it up. It may be bomb proof and it isn't rain proof, but over load it and it'll rip open. Seen it and had it happen to me so they're not as good as you might think. THey sell for cheap because they are quite carp.

I didn't know that Nat, I guess I was lucky with the one's I had. They didn't get lumped about that often, more used from the back of a vehicle for different stuff.

The various sales and discounts available seem to make the ME and Gelert ones work out to roughly the same price?

Aye they're alright for that, light use or quick trips from the back of a plane to a truck or your tent but that's it. On training weekends when i had to take all my issued kit i'd fill one plus my bergen and have it on the front of me, you could see the stitching start to pull away.
Shame really as they're a really good idea just made by the cheapest bidder. If you didn't overload it i guess it'd be fine, but mines taken a hammering this past year.

Must admit, it was a while ago when I visited Sabre Sales last so they might not be there anymore....!

TNF Duffle bags are really good, when it came to the deployment bag mine stayed in my mfo box, as for the black bag rucksack that got binned as it would rip just by looking at it. I swapped my sausage bag for the big black bag(deploymant bag). Haglofs do a nice bag. When it comes to chucking in a duvet or daysack, my Duffle bag can hold everything.
