You could post them to post offices, they will keep post for you for 3 months. So get Mum to post them out prior to you needing them.
Pretty sure someone already posted this in another of your threads: http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/jump2?catId=83900761&mediaId=600012

Get an iphone 4 with memory map Drew :)
I have the Satmap but they rip you off with the map cards
you could post home the maps no longer needed ,mabey combine it with your letter home?, most garages/postoffices and tourist information points will have maps of the area your in and probably the maps sorrounding that one too. and that goes for most of Europe too.

Any map that you know that you won't need again can be posted home ;) .
There's two main ways to get hold of maps, either post them in advance (or get them posted to you) or plan on going into areas that'll have camping shops (some Tourist Information shops sell them too).
Oh - buy and carry two maps for each area ;) . Keep the spare in a sealed water tight container.
Scout groups are always in need of up to date maps

southey i like the idea of posting maps home but i am also going to be using my blog and when i go to a hostel or town i will be updating it with photos and anicdotes so they can keep up with progress so letters home arent nessecary also facebook will be a big thing with statuses and what not. Now then decorum i like the idea of carrying two it makes sense cos if the first get nacked i am sorted cos i have a spare so cheers for that tip
ps i will post a thread up before i leave that will have a link to my blog in and i will then udate thread with a notice saying i have updated my blog every

I see, I would mention though, I made sure to mark my maps with the route i'd traveled that day, and added a referance number on the map that related to anyhitng i felt a need to write about. it just helps to remember the day, a year down the line.once i'm all moved i'll try a dig out my journal to ilistraight what i mean.
post maps back and buy the next as you get to where you need it.
Or get a Windows phone with MM - works better than the Iphone app. As it is windows based.
Another option is a windows phone with Quo Mapyx - you can by tiles that are the same as each papaer map, that way you just get the ones you want. Works out cheaper than MM.
Or go to ebay and get a cheap recon windows PDA with GPS and run MM or Quo --- I got a GPS PDA for less than £50

As a young man I walked the length of England.
I plotted my route from Lands End Northwards on a road map then bought guides to the Long Distance Footpaths that fitted in well.
I also carried OS maps, buying the 1-50000 maps that covered the areas I planned to cross and posting them home as I walked off them.
I bought in batches so that I always had at least the 2 ahead of me - just in case I could not buy them when I needed them!
As it worked out it took 3 trips to actually complete the walk (due to injuries) but since then I have also walked the width of England from North Sea to Irish sea and completed a lot of LDPs, invented my own LDPs, written books on routes in Wales, trekked in various countries around the world and worn out a lot of boots!
If you plan to walk in europe then maps are harder to come by but some of the Long Distance Paths will take you all over and thhey are well waymarked.
Check out John Hillabys book "Journey Through Europe" where he walks through europe from the North Sea to the Med and "Journey Through Britain" a lands End to John O'Groats walk.
Both are a bit dated now but are inspirational!
